Help with Mini Dv Camcorder Please:)

I'm getting this Mini DV Camcorder and was wondering if I need to have a Firewire card hooked up or if I can connect directly thru my ATI All In Wonder. I know it has an "S" Video connection but I was reading and it mentioned connecting thru my IEEE 1394 port.
