Help with miltiple home routers

I have a wired network at home, and everything is setup perfectly (web server, exchange, etc..). I just bought a wireless G router so that i can connect with the laptop by the pool. Here is my problem. I only want to add this G router to my existing network, and I do not want to replace my perfectly configured wired router with the wireless one. Do I need to use a cross over cable from a port on my wired router to the g router. How do I set up the G router to allow the wired router to be the gateway, and handle DHCP? Is this even possible with home type routers?

The Easy Way:
Buy a WAP (Wireless Access Point) and connect the two devices with a patch cable.

The Semi-easy Way:
Buy a Wireless Router. Disable DHCP on the Wireless Router and use a cross-over cable to connect LAN ports on both devices.

Just by glancing at the devices available on Newegg I would opt for a Wireless Router as they seem to support more security standards then the WAPs.
