Help with memory upgrade

I'm looking into upgrading my memory to 2GB in preparation for installing Vista x64. It's on an Abit KV8 with a S754 Newcastle 3000+. Right now I have two 512MB sticks of DDR400 at 3-3-3-8 2T. I was hoping to just add a 1GB stick, but according to the manual that means that the memory will have to run at DDR333 speeds due to the CPU's memory controller.

Is there much difference running at DDR333 as opposed to DDR400, or should I just replace both current sticks with two 1GB sticks?

It depends on what you are doing with the machine and if you are OCing. If you are gaming, I would not suggest adding the 1gb DIMM as it will slow your CPU and memory speed. If you are simply multi tasking, running Photoshop, burning disks, etc, then you won't really notice the lower speeds.

Also, keep in mind that when you add a 1gb DIMM to those 2 x 512mb DIMMs, you may have some IC/compatibility issues. I know the cost is more but, you'd be best served by using matched 2 x 1gb DIMMs.
