Ok, so I have two drives. I just need help with jumper settings.

One is a WD Raptor, thats my primary, the computer recognizes that just fine.

The second is a seagate barricuda. I got the drive OEM, so no instructions. I went online to try to find out how to set it to slave, but all it comes up wtih is an 8 pin setup. Mine has 4 pins. I tried completely removing it, but no luck so far. My computer recognizes the hd on bootup, but not once in windows.

If bios sees it you have it set up right via master / slave.

Try and see if disk management sees it

Start > Control panel > Admin Tools > (then I think it is disk management)*

If it is in there then either it is not formated (and you should format it) or it is not formatted in a way that windows can see.

*My work PC doesn't allow access to this tool set

in the bios it has Sata 4 / master
Sata 5 / master

( i just plugged in whatever would work easiest, i dont know if it matters - i have 6 sata cables )

I am running vista, it's not setup like that in terms of control panel - - > admin tools, i'm looking right now.

My point ultimately being is that the BIOS recognizes both as masters I guess, and the secondary just isn't displaying (The barracuda in this isntance)

ok so I went in there, it has Disk 1 as my primary (this is in disk management)
Then disc 0 is the barracuda drive, it is 300GB Unallocated. but it says its online. Next step?

Every Barracuda I've ever seen has a diagram on the label showing the pinout... on my ATA IV drive it functions as a slave with all jumpers removed.

EDIT: it looks like you're using SATA drives in which case there is no master/slave configuration (hence why it isn't mentioned on the lable)

I formatted the HD, and it shows itself there in the disk management, but does not display in my computer. I took the jumper completely off atm of the 4 pin.
