Ok, first I've been using Linux about 2 days now and I need to know how to install ATI's Radeon video drivers. On the site it says they are for xfree86 4.2.0 and I have 4.3.0, will they install or do I have to wait for a new version?

Also, how do you get to the command line? And how do you set up your log in to be set as root?

what type of graphical user interface are you using? KDE? Gnome? or something else? Try to look for a "console" icon or name, that will get you to the command line.

To log in as root, you can just type "su" (without quotes) in the consloe and then type in the root password. To get out of root, type in "Exit" or just close the console window.

As for if the drivers will work or not because you have a newer verison of xfree, I'm not sure because I don't use a Radeon video card, sorry.
