Help with LOUD beep at bootup.

I'm running an 8kha+ and using onboard sound. Everything boots fine and I get no error code on the LED. It just has one short really loud beep. Anyone know how I can turn that down?

de8212, that POST beep is usually a memory problem, I don't have an answer for you, but I'm curious as hell.

There is no way to turn the beep down.
Usually those beeps mean something, but I have never heard of one short beep

3-4 quick beeps is usually a video card issue
continous beeps is usually memory

Some motherboards have a volume control in the BIOS for the system speaker....?? Try stuffing the front of the speaker with cotton balls. That worked on a girl I used to know...course we stuffed them somewhere other than her speaker but you get the idea...🙂

Hmm, I think even my current pc makes a quick beep whe it first boots up. In fact, don't most pc's just beep once when first powered on? I'll reboot this machine in a minute to see.

Anyway, I'll look into the BIOS on my other machine to see if there is a sound option.

Thanks.

I think the beep means a succesful POST.

If you cant turn down the volume in your BIOS then move the speaker to a part of the case with no grill or holes. This should muffle the speaker a bit.

Yoshi.

There is nothing wrong with that beep. One short beep means successful POST. As far as volume, that's something you control with your speaker's volume. If you really can't stand it, you other solution would be to buy a sound card, connect your speakers to it and you'll hear no more beeps 🙂

Good luck,

Shut down, unplug the external speakers, see if it still beeps. If it does, unplug the internal speaker, beep should be gone.
