Help with Linux printing

Horsepower

Senior member
I installed Red Hat 7 and it's working fine. I get a message on bootup about needing to use PROCFS to setup IRQ 7 for my printer. PROCFS is an invalid command. The printer is an Epson Stylus 980. I used printtool but all it does is feed paper and one line on each page of garbage. I researched linuxprinting.org and downloaded CUPS but it won't install due to errors. Guidance would be appreciated. Thanx.
