help with linux and windows networking

I just followed the ipmasq HOWTO but i'm still having some trouble getting it to work. I am able to ping my remote ip address from my win98 machine, but i am not able to ping any other external addresses. I'm using iptables v1.2.2 on rh7.1 with a dialup connection and one nic per computer with no hub. any ideas? thanks
 
what are you trying to do?
share a internet connection or just share files between linux and windows?
