ok.. first of all, bear with me this is my first attempt to build a wireless network...

i got two computers to network and a printer.
both using the linksys pci wireless card (WMP11) and i got the linksys wireless cable/dsl router ap + printserver.

i installed the drivers for the wireless pci card and the router software comp on both comps.
the funny thing is on both computers the internet connection (from the cable) works fine. IE loads up websites on both computers (but it takes like 1min when I open IE to load the first site; the second, third, etc sites load normally)

[problem 1] following through with the router manual, i come to the point where it says load up IE and enter HTTP://<router ip> which I assume should be 192.168.1.1 (not 192.168.0), when i enter that it, it comes up with a username/password prompt. i enter in my @home info (this is the step which i have uncertainly), but it doesnt let me logon.
just out for curiousity i tried other ips like 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.0 and those dont do anything at all (no website detected blah blah)

[problem 2] i have a HP OfficeJet 700 series machine. i heard that most "all-in-one" multifunction machines dont work with routers, so maybe that issue to linked to this problem. but when tried to add a shared printer port to either comp, it wont add properly (im using the linksys router software). it detects Port 1 to be ON-line and it says the port was sucessfully added. but then when i go to the add printe rstep, it shows up no shared printer ports. i dont even think it detects the printer.

any help is much appreciated...

Step #1 Read the instruction manual carefully. There are specific guidlines you must follow when installing the printer drivers.

Step#2 When you enter the 192.168.1.1 to connect to the config screen, the username should remain blank and the password is admin. This should have also been explained in the owner's manual. The @home user id and pass has nothing to do with your router's config manager.

The IE taking a while on first load probably has to do with "use automatic config script" being checked under tools>internet options>connections>lan settings. Unfortunately if you have installed the @home software oftentimes you cannot uncheck this box. As soon as you close IE it'll come back

Good Luck.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not using @home software, so that one thing off my back. I did read the manual carefully, and seriously it says nothing about that "password is admin" stuff. Anyways, it worked. I got the printer working and all.

But now a new problem popped. Remember how I said the internet was working just fine (even before I fixed my printer problem)? Well, now the Internet connection would die randomly, usually after 10min. The only way I can get the Internet connection working again would to reset the router. It's definitely a router problem and not my cable modem. Any ideas?

There should be a setting to adjust timeout and I bet it is set at 10min right now. Adjust that!

Hm.. I don't see any timeout settings in the router settings. =|

aye this is very frustrating. :(

* Just curious under the Linksys Router Settings, for DEVICE NAME, I'm supposed to put my hostname. I'm using @home (AT&T Broadband), should I put "@HOME" or something like else like "ATTBI" ?
