Help with Laptop not POSTing

Hey guys, I had to replace the DC jack in my Inspiron 9300 and it appears to work correctly. Plug a battery in and it charges just fine. However when I turn the computer on it does not POST (or beep in any way at all). I turn on the power, the fans spin up, the HDD spins up, and then about 5 seconds later it all just shuts down. Ive tried taking the HDD and the RAM out to try and get some sort of beep code and i get nothing.

Im completely stuck, does anyone have any idea what the problem may be?

While soldering the DC jack on you may have overheated something. In which case you would have only a couple of options. One is to replace the main board of the laptop. and two is to completly replace the laptop.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply!

Its possible that the motherboard was overheated, however I put a battery that was dead in and it has charged to full in the normal time. Also the jack was punched in (and i punched the new one in too) no heat was used.

I appreciate the response though!

When powering it up where you doing it on battery or AC? How do you know the battery is full (I assume led indicator on the battery)?

Hey guys i wanted to let you know i wasn't correct in my earlier post. The fans are NOT spinning. ONLY the HDD is making noise when the power button is pressed. I tried starting the laptop with it disassembled outside of the case in case the issue was a grounding contact or something. No go.
Appreciate any ideas 🙂
