Help with laptop lcd diagnosis (cracked screen? bad inverter? loose cables?)

I have a Toshiba Satellite C675 laptop that someone brought in for me to fix.

Windows 7

When I play with the side of the lcd I can get the vertical lines to move around/disappear.

I tried hooking it up to an external monitor and that works fine so we can eliminate a few possibilities.

Any ideas?
