Can anyone tell me the best solution to keep a laptop cool? And suggestions on some products would be nice. Thanks in advance.

Are you planning on using it on a desk, or on your lap? If on your lap, then i don't know of too many solutions. However, if you will keep it on a desk, then there are plently laptop stands and lifters that will either solely lift the machine, or may also have fans.

I know that Logitech just released a whole slew of them, and I know that Vantec, Belkin, and most everyone else makes them as well. Hit up Newegg and then you can peruse their selections. Check out the laptop accessories section, that is where you will find them.

Just about every laptop I have ever had (5 of them) has had an adequate cooling system. However, there are some no-no's to remember. Never run a laptop on a soft or padded surface because that can block the cooling vents. In fact, laps are not cool. :)

There are several cooling bases available that can augment the designed cooling system. Most of those sell to keep users happy while the laptop itself is running within design limits.

I have read many posts by dummies asking how to turn off the laptop fan - the noise bothers them. Oh, well . . . :)

I always use my Antec laptop Cooler, since I usually use the laptop in bed or a couch.

It helps keep it... cool with the fans on, but also prevents from any obstruction of the vents in the bottom part of the notebook PC.

I will be mostly be using the laptop on a desk surface, I'm not really planning on getting a stand or anything mostly a cooling pad. Any suggestions? It's a dell Inspiron 1520. And does anyone know about the fanless cooling pads and if they are any good?
