Try setting the FSB to 100. I ran into the same problem with my ka266 board and it posts fine at 100.

Have you tried clearing the cmos? Also what do you have the multiplier set as?

are your cpu settings controlled in bios on your motherboard? (checking to see if he can actually get to the multiplier adjuster) also did you install the standoffs that came with you case?

The multiplier is actually set as jumpers on that specific mobo. The FSB can be set to 100 or 133 by jumpers on the board or can be set through the BIOS.

took me like 5 minutes to understand how you knew that (thought you were just omnicent or something!) then I realized the title says ka266 not kt266 lol, question still stands though, did you install the standoffs correctly? (it isnt shorting out anywhere)

sitting it on a box wasn't a real good idea ;) did you buy this board new or used? is this a new build? have you ever had it running? do you have another motherboard you could test the other components in? when you had it out of the case was the power button still connected to the correct pins on the motherboard? (have you checked the manual for the correct pins to plug the power buttons into?)
