I set up this mobo today, latest revision I guess because this is my second one. I install all the drivers, and after a couple of hours, I can not see my CDROM drive Lite ON 52X. I m running a simple set up Duron 800 with WINME + 128 PC133 Corsair. Any thoughts thanks....

also in MY Computer folder there is a Control Panel folder + in device Mananger there are two floppy disk , one taking the place of my CDrom.....

Try unplugging your floppy drive from the motherboard and see what happens, as a troubleshooting step.

You mean initially it's there, but then disappears later? If so, that might be a heat problem with the drive itself, or a weak power supply unit.

Note that the floppy drive count in Windows corresponds to what you set in BIOS, not to what you actually have connected. Legacy floppy disk drives cannot even be detected ...

regards, Peter

Recheck your BIOS setup on the inital page. Make sure you do not have a "drive B" set up. As a long shot, try going to the system restore area and restore it to the most recent point. There should have been a couple restore points set up so far, even on a new build. It seems to sound like a corrupt load of Windows. You didn't have the CPU overclocked during the load of the OS did you?

I used to have a K7S5A. There was a problem with data curruption with the floppy controller in win2k. I think you said you had winME, but it I think its worth mentioning. Do you have the latest BIOS? That might clear some things up.

No the mobo was in 100/100 for the Duron 800, I m still trying to get back to the original configuration...

in device Mananger there are two floppy disk
There should only be one, named " Floppy disk Drive" listed under (suprisingly?) "Floppy Disk Drives" and just above it will be the Catagory, "Floppy Disk Controllers". If you expand that you will see "Standard Floppy Disk Controllers". Is that what you are seeing or are there TWO Floppy Drives listed under the "Floppy Disk Drive" catagory?
Again, if you have two you need to recheck your BIOS. You may have enabled a "Drive B" floppy. Also in the BIOS under the very first catagory, Standard CMOS Setup, you should see your drives listed. You should see, depending upon if there are others you didn't mention, a Primary Master (listed as "Pri Master") which should have your hard drive listed and under Sec Master you should see your CDROM. Unless you have some other hard drives or optical drives installed, those will be all that you should see. Take a look and let us know what it says there and down further under Drive B.
