HELP with ITune mess up!!!

okay, am not going to bash this worthless piece of shxt program, i need some serious help. I've recently checked some wrong options in Itune, let it reorganized my music folder (over 30GBs), and of course it messed it up fubar. I've sorted out my folder tree by music genre, and then album, which ease me to find a piece i wanted. What Itune did was to split open all my album folders, and place each individual song into separate folders in main directory by each artist. So, now, instead my original easy to use, concise tree structure, I'll have to go through thousands of folders (providing I remember the artist's name) to find a piece of music, WTF!!!

Anyone have any idea how to restore my original file tree? Thanks very much for your help...

PS: I deleted ITUNE in a fury, including registry entree...and am going to write Steve Job a complaining letter

enclavesaga,

If you let iTune do your music organization, it stores the files in My Documents, My Music, iTunes... You could maybe try System Restore to just before you installed iTunes. Worth a try. If that didn't work, how about putting a backup image back on your HDD?

iTunes works well for me, but I have all my music in folders on a separate partition just for Music. I just point iTunes to it to import into iTunes. Also, every CD I import, I check to make sure it sends the songs to that drive in its own folder and NOT as a compilation.

Good practice, before you install ANY software, make a restore point.
Better practice, make a good image of your C drive (or your entire HDD) frequently... Back up, back up, back up.
