help with internet explorer

i messed up something with internet explorer and how when it loads it says detecting proxy settings for awhile... how can i turn that off?!??!!

tell us what you see in tools > internet options > connections > lan settings.

tools--connections--click lan button--uncheck "automatically detect settings"

Vi's got it dead on, but depending on your connection type you may need to specify proxy settings.
