Hello all.....
On my work computer I have my system upgraded late last week. As is usually the case, things I've noticed some changes in my settings that are no longer available and I need to have restored.
I'm using Windows NT v4.0 on our network. I don't know that much about networks, so I don't have alot of info about that.
One of my biggest issues is the following:
In Windows NT Explorer, I use to have an address bar at the top that shows the path for whatever file was selected. IT was a simple matter of going to View/Toolbar and selecting 'Address" I believe it was called. This turned on/off this feature. Well....with my 'new' system I no longer have this feature available.
Also.....I don't have the following features I had before:
There is no 'Refresh' option when right clicking on the open desktop.
There is no 'Toolbars' option when right clicking on a blank part of the taskbar.
There is no 'Vew as Webpage' option in Explorer to view pages as a webpage.
Also...in my Outlook 200 email, there is no longer the ability to insert a web link into an email.
I don't know if all these are related or not, but they are all useful and I used them often. I've done a little checking and I THINK these features have soemthing to do with what's called "Active Desktop'. I've tried to install this, but this hasn't worked. I can't go back to IE version 4.0 as it seems to suggest. From the MS documentation I've read this feature was presented in that version and not in later versions...which seems kinda stupid to me.....but hey....I'm not worth 100 kajillion bucks either. I've upgraded to 6.0...which doesn't help...I've tried to downgrade to earlier versions, but I can only go back as far as 5.0 or somehting like that.
Is there a setting, and upgrade I'm missing, a patch...something I can d/load? Or is this not the route I need to take to get these features re-installed on my machine?
Anyone have any ideas, or help they can give please?
Thank you.....
