Help with Intel Smart Response Technology

I am tying to get this to work. What I am trying to do is use one 128 GB ssd for the OS one 64 GB for the cache and a 1 TB disk that would be tire into the raid array with the 64GB ssd.

What I have done is installed the O.S. to the 128 GB SSD then instal the Intel smart response software.
I then configured the array but I cant see the array under my computer so there is no way for me to install software to it.

If I go to system devices I can see the array but cat do anything with it.

Thats is a problem if it cant see the Drive then how do I install programs to it

I'm confused as to why you're trying to use an SSD as a cache for an SSD......it's not like that will make the OS SSD faster.

SRT is to give mech. HD's close to SSD speed using a cheap, small SSD as a cache. If you have an SSD for your OS drive, why even bother with SRT?

Personally, remove the small SSD and just run the larger SSD as your OS and the mech. HD as a file depository, etc.

I am not trying to use the small ssd wit the bigger one. I was trying to use the smaller ssd the 64 GB one as the cache for the 1 tb spindle type HD. In doing this I thought it would give less were and tear on the main os drive, but still be abel to use SRT boost for the files and game on the larger 1 TB drive using the non os 64 GB ssd as the cache.

When you go into Disk Management in the Device Manager do you see the RAID as an available drive.

It has to be brought on line and formatted, before you can see it in " My Computer " ..

Once you can see it in " My Computer ", you should be able run RST and enable SSD caching..

P.S.
I see you are calling the 1tb drive and the SSD cache drive an " array ".. I thought you had a RAID ( 2 or more drives ) that you were trying use with the SSD cache..

In any event, you have to get the spindle drive showing in " My Computer ", before you can set up SRT ..

thanks all for the help I just decided to use all 3 Hard drives with out SRT, ther seem to be some proplems with it stiil will wait untill they get it better

I think at this time, SRT might only be capable of accelerating an OS drive.

Not true. It can be used to accelerate any drive connected to the Intel SATA ports on a supporting mobo, which is Z68 at this time..

You're right. Got home and opened up the RST software, took a look.

OP, are you installing Windows with RAID already set in your BIOS?

Maybe it's the communication, or maybe I just misunderstood.

The only RAID you will "see" in an ISRT configuration will be shown in the IRST program. This "array" will be exclusive to the SSD used for caching. Further, to use your example of the 1TB HDD intended for the "caching/acceleration" ISRT feature, the HDD is not part of the RAID0 array exclusive to the SSD.

This allows you to "unhinge" the SSD for certain operations you might not want clogging up the cache, such as large software installations from a DVD-burner/drive installed on the same controller. To restore the caching, you can either "re-hinge" the existing RAID0 on the SSD cache drive, or make the SSD "available" to create a new cache. Of course, simply reconnecting the RAID0 cache to the HDD you want to accelerate is the easiest way to restore it -- provided the cache has not become corrupted.
