System:

AMD Athlon 600 (Slot-A).. bought in March 2000- 1st generation?
In-Win Q500 Full size tower case.
Giga-byte GA-7ix Mobo
256meg PC-133 SDRAM
30GIG maxtor 7200rpm drive
Hitachi GD-500 8x DVD Drive
Plextor 8/4/32 CDRW
Creative Labs Annihilator PRO 32meg DDR
SBlive Platinum
Linksys Ethernet card
250watt generic power supply
Win2k OS

I recently purchased a new Enermax EG-465 (with mobo fan control) and need some input on installing this unit as the fan is controlled by the mobo and my old PSU didn't have this so I need to know how to hook this up.

Currently my AMD Athlon has two fans on it. One of the power connectors to one of the fans is connected to the 'Power Fan' connection on the mobo and the other fan is connected to the 'CPU Fan' connection. However the Enermax Manual said to use the 'Power Fan' connector. If i do this, then one of my fans on my Athlon won't work. Can I hook the power connectors to the CPU Fans to a regular power connector off the power supply and not the mobo? If i do this, i believe the fans on my CPU will consistantly run, but my PSU will be able to adjust it's fan speed as heat builds up.

here is a link to my mobo manufacturer and it's model: GA-7ix

If this doesn't make sense (which i'm sure it doesn't, please respond and i'll try to make it a little more clear).

Darkside,
No, your Power Supply (PSU) is not set up to regulate your CPU fan. You should almost always leave that one on the CPU Fan plug. You have, according to your MB specs, 3 Fan plugs/headers on your board. Use that third one for your other fan and plug the Enermax into the PWR Fan header. Check your manual as to the location of the other fan header. It might say Chasis or CHS Fan. If for some reason you cannot find that, then get an adaptor (3 to 4 wire/pins),if you need one and run the other fan from that.
I sent this via email for you as you requested.

so if i'm understanding you correctly... for the CPU power supply fans.. leave one of the fans plugged into the 'cpu fan' plug on the mobo and for the second fan hook it to one of the other fan plugs on the mobo since the motherboard turns on and off the CPU Fans as needed.

As far as the fan for the PSU, hook that up to the Power Fan connector on the mobo... right?

Yes, I think. You worry me when you say, "for the CPU power supply fans.. leave one of the fans plugged into the 'cpu fan' plug on the mobo". There is (most likely) ONE CPU FAN, and there are Enermax POWER SUPPLY fans, (connected to ONE 3 pin lead coming from the Enermax Power Supply). Those are two seperate things. Plug the CPU fan into the CPU plug on the MB. Plug the Enermax Power Supply fan (3 pin) lead into the "Power" Plug on the MB. If you have another fan that is currently plugged into the "Power" plug on the MB, remove it and plug it into the other location on the MB. There should be another 3 pin plug on your MB for it. If not, for some reason, or if you cannot find it, then use an adaptor and plug this extra fan (that USED to be plugged into the Power plug) into one of the leads from the Power Supply. I don't want to confuse you but just for your information, the 3 pin lead coming from the Power Supply is only for monitoring purposes. There is no third wire (voltage) on this lead. However, it is important to plug it into the MB correctly.
