Help with Illustrator images please...?

Could someone please explain why I keep getting an extra area of white border around all of my images when I put them on my webpage?
I set the document size in Illustrator to the exact dimensions I want, fill it up exactly with my image, then export it as either a jpeg or gif, and when I transfer them to the web server and view them, they have a white border all the way around. This is getting extremely frustrating!! 🙁

What version of Illustrator are you running? Illustrator really isn't the most web-friendly program; it's more for print usage, being primarily a vector graphics tool. If you have the means to get/use Illustrator, I would assume you could get your hands on a copy of Photoshop as well. Why not use that instead?

Sorry, I know it doesn't really answer your question, but it often helps to use the best app for the job. Saves a lot of headaches 🙂

Valid point, I sometimes forget that Illustrator isn't ideal for this sort of thing. I'm using v8 now. Unfortunately I'm not currently able to get Photoshop, that would make things alot easier I think.

Well, I guess I'll have to keep screwing around with it and hopefully live with it for the time being...

Thanks for your advice.
