Asus P4C800-E (latest release BIOS as of Sept. 10)

IDE Configuration in BIOS:
Enhanced Mode
P-ATA+S-ATA
No
10 Seconds

Displays:

Pri IDE = 80GB PATA WD (Shows up under Primary IDE Master in BIOS) - This will be my data/backup drive, no OS on it.

Pri IDE = DVDRW (Shows up under Secondary IDE Master)

Pri SATA = 36GB SATA WD (Shows up under Third IDE Master in BIOS) - This will be my OS drive.

Notes: I do not plan on using RAID at this time, as well as any additional IDE devices, can I safely disable the "OnBoard Promise Controller", if so, when I install Windows 2000 Pro and Windows XP Pro what drivers do I need to install with regard the chipset, etc.

Symptoms:

Windows boots up and sometimes it sees the second HD, but other times it does not. I think the BIOS does the same sometimes as well. When I go into see what is detected.

Additionally, what drivers and order would be recommended for this motherboard.

I was thinking:

1 - OS Service Pack
3- Do I need IDE controller drivers?
4 - Intel Chipset drivers? (Which one?)
5 - Intel Application Accelerator (Recommended version?)
etc...

Thank you!

I have the driver install order sorted out now, but not the IDE inconsistant HD detection problem.
