help with IDE Config

I was wondering if my current config was making my PC not run at full potential.
PM Maxtor HDD ATA133
PS Sony CDRW ATA 33

2M WD HDD ATA100
2S Atapi DVD ATA 33
Is this making myIDEchannels run at ATA 33? should I put the HDD's on he same channel
so they run at ATA100 and the CDRW and DVD on the other channel to they run at ATA33?
Or are they fine?

I wondered that same thing. My hunch is you won't notice performance problems unless you're copying between devices on the same channel.

If you want, do what I did: Run a disk benchmark with just your HD on the primary channel and then again with both a HD and CD-ROM on the channel. If you do this, please post results as I'd be interested to see them.

I did that ran both of them still got a bout 19000kB's I think that seems like a low number for a 7200 RPM 40 Gig Maxtor drive though....

That score is low. Try putting the HD on the same strap and rerun benches.

slave device limited by master's speeds, not other way around (except possibly when one is PIO).
