Help with HT Subwoofer purchase

I'm debating between these two subwoofers for my Home Theater. Yes, I know there are others that are better but these are what I can afford. Here are the links

Now I already have the JBl PSW-D112, but it died on me last night. 2 months out of warranty I'm a little skeptical about getting the same one again but I really loved the way it sounded.

Any help?

If you want a sweet sub, This Titanic 1000 kit designed by Vance Dickason will do the trick. Not only is the driver extremely high quality (capable of almost an INCH of linear excursion), but it has a 250watt plate amp. And the box is sold 3/4inch MDF.......and it comes with the metal spikes as well.
Plus you can change the characterists of the amp (add 1-5db of boost at a frequency you select, plus it has a built in rumble filter).....
Sweet package really.
And I guarantee you it'll destroy either one of those subs

Well it's nearly twice the price of his budget, that's why!

Why not try asking your question on the HTF, I'm sure several people have had experiences with these subs.

The JBL is junk, stay away. Haven't heard the AudioSource though. Everybody will have their own personal reccomendation for you, but your best bet is to go to your local HT store and just listen to a bunch and buy whatever sounds best to you.

Well......if you want a true sub that's capable of hitting into the low 20's, you're going to have to spend at least $300......however if you want to DIY (like me......build the box yourself but buy the amp and sub from somewhere and install them)......you can save a LOT of money and get a way better sub.

Figure this: $130 for a 15inch DVC sub from Parts Express (has 30mm of linear excursion (the magnets push the cone that far in and out)
$85 for a 150watt plate amp that PE has on sale
$30 for Box made from 3/4inch MDF (1 sheet is enough, plus Home Depot/Lowes/etc will cut it for you). All you do is glue and screw together.

So really......you get a sweet, tight, earth shaking sub.......for not much money.
