So I have a Accord 02, so car is about 3 yrs old. Keyless entry remote battery died about 4 wks ago. Replaced with the appropiate battery model from Radio Shack. But about 1 wk later, the new battery in remote died. Got battery replaced at the Shack for free, thinking it was a bad battery. Another 1 wk later, 2nd new battery died (both times, pressing remote does not disarm car nor opens door, and light indicator on remote is very weak). So bought a new battery at Office Max. Again 1 wk later, the 3rd new battery died, and remote won't open doors/disarm alarm.
I'm using a back-up remote that came w/ the alarm system, it has the original battery in there (only been used a few times in 3 years, only when I travel or have the dealer work on the car) and it's been working fine. Question is, what's wrong w/ my old remote? Is something shorting it out to make the batteries die within a week? Is it possible to get a new remote keyless entry at dealer that has my alarm/code programmed in, and is this gonna cost me an arm+leg(?) (I consider anything over 40 or so for a remote exorbitant...).
Ideas, suggestions?
