This is my first post here so please bear with me.

I plan on buying a new low cost HDTV. I plan on using it for my new xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii but im confused a bit on certain things. I notice that HDTVs have many imputs. Which are the best to have for both a HD game console and ED game console (480p). Also is HDMI a must to have? What imputs should be a must with my new tv. And what resolutions should i be shooting for. I dont want to spend more than 550 dollars so i know i wont be getting all the bells and whistles but im optmistic. Please give me some ideas.

might check www.avsforum.com anandtech deals alot more with computer hardware, and the avsforum has alot more discussion on TVs and Consoles in particular

In your under 550 price range, I doubt you will find anything better than a 1366x768 LCD Monitor in the 20-30 inch range. Im not sure what the best one is for you particularly

I don't know about WII, but for XBOX 360 the best video connection would be by using VGA connection.
Unfortunately, XBOX 360 doesn't have any 21st century connectivity such as DVI or HDMI.
Max resolution is quite low too (720p/1080i/1368-buggy)
In light of this, any HD TV capable of VGA input should work with XBOX360. Just make sure the TV is 720p/1080i friendly. (having 1080p is definitely nicer since it'll might work with the future PS3)

If all you're connecting is a Xbox 360 and Wii, you just need a HDTV with at least 2 component inputs. Shoot for something that's 720p native since that's the target resolution of the 360.
