I have a Tbird 800 and am waiting to get an Asus A7V when they become available.
The mobo has an UATA/100 controller on it, but I don't have an UATA/100 drive. I do have an UATA/66 and an UATA/33. Since if I put a 66 and a 33 on the same cable, the 66 will run at the speed of the 33, could I put the 66 on the UATA/100 channel so it'll run at its max. speed? And put the 33 on the other IDE channel?

actually, im not shure but i think it dosent matter if u have 2 drives of diff speeds on the same cable, i 'think' they will both run at their specified speeds.

Also check to see if your UDMA66 drive manufacturer has a flash available, alot of UDMA66 drives are flashable to UDMA100.

can somebody confirm this speed issue. I am planning to run my new ata100 hd as master and a ata66 as slave on the same ide channel. Will I be reduced to to ata 66.
