Help with Glasses Prescription

So, I had an eye exam yesterday and ordered contacts at my eye doctor. (Health Insurance covers $200/year for contacts/glasses) I asked for my prescription so I could order my glasses online for much cheaper than other places.

This is what is on my prescription:

Spherical Cylindrical Axis Prism
O.D. -3.5 $
O.S. -3.5 -.25 15

What does the dollar sign under cylindrical mean? is it saying grab number from spherical?

I work for an optometrist and have never seen this. I would assume that it mean that you RX is:

OD -3.50, that is it no cylinder or axis
OS -3.25-0.25x015

Have you ever ordered glassed online? If you have I would try some on at you Doctors to get an idea of what size you need. You may be able to go to the Doctors office and write down what you like and order elsewhere. Also, did you ask them about any specials they have. Alot of times there are specials and you don't know about them.

Have you already ordered your contacts through you doctor? Sometimes it is cheaper to order glasses with you insurance and pay cash for your contacts. We always figure out the cheapest way for the patient and let them decide what they want you do.
