I've been happy with this card for a couple years now, but the fan on it died so I replaced the entire HSF with a rev2 article cooling silencer. Here's the confusing part. When I look at the thermal monitor the temperatures read as such-->

Chip edge temperature: 28C
Chip surface temperature: 62C

I remember with the old HSF, i would run high 40's and high 50's respectively. What did I do wrong to get such a huge temperature difference with the new HSF?

i dunno my old gf3 has a passive cooler on it coz its off a dell machine.......that thing gets smokin hot! cant even touch the PCB!!!

the arctic cooler may not be contacting the core fully, as in may not be tight enough, or u put too much thermal grease on it

thermal grease should be a wafer thin layer spread evenly.
