Help with GeForce and Abit BH6 and XP, please

I put together a system, BH6 with latest bios, 256 ram, Elsa Geforce SYnergy, P3-500, and XP. It boots to XP then stops at a black screen once it enters. I can go into safe mode no problem. Have tried the latest drivers etc, nothing works. I tried a Winfast Geforce DDR card and the same thing happens. I put in some 8mb vid cards and it works fine. I tried a Banshee card also, works fine. Is it that the mb can't handle the Geforce, although it works in safe mode. Oh, I did try two monitors, same results. Anyone have any idea on what to try next? I have to get this ready for a XMas present for 2 disadvantaged brothers that I am delivering on Saturday.

I have an Elsa GF2 GTS in a BH6 that works fine as did a Voodoo 3 with Win98. Never tried a Geforce (1). Do you have the same problem with a different OS?? Do you have the BIOS set to assign an IRQ to the video card?

Yes, I did set that. If I can;t get it running in XP, which it should, I will try Me later tonight.
