Help with Gaming Laptop

Hello, I'm looking to buy a gaming laptop for ~$1000, can anyone recommend a brand or even a model for a particular brand? What should I really look for these days?

Thanks!

It's actually for a cousin and the only thing I hear him play is League of Legends (I know it isn't demanding lol), though I'm sure he'll play something else in the near future. Everything else doesn't really matter. I don't think he'll be playing anything really demanding, but I just wanna make sure I get something that will be somewhat future-proof (maybe 2-3 years).

it really depends. The Y510p is obviously the fastest for gaming in this price range, but you might want to get him a cheaper laptop or one that is not the fastest as it is not necessary really.

No other requirements like battery running times, weight, stuff like that? refurbished laptops too? how about screen size - 13-14" too?

Ah nice, that 1 does look decent. Is there anything that's just a step down from that?

He's not really too keen about battery run time or weight since he'll be using this like a desktop mainly with some occasions of moving it lol. He doesn't want a refurb and a 15-16" wouldn't bother him much.

Thanks.

well, check these options for gaming laptops under $1000. As a 15.6" gaming laptop, there aren't a lot of cost effective options. Most of the good options are around $900-$1000 already and I don't think he needs it

Maybe you should wait for some good discount on the Y510p with a single GT 750M or get the Dell 15 3540 with Radeon 8850M, I5-4200U and 1080p display for $750-$800 new (eBay too)

I would suggest that MSI GE40 from the link. MSI notebooks are of great quality and good bang for your buck. I am getting my third MSI notebook on Thursday, the previous two have been great to me.
