I just recently got my new Gainward Ti 200 a few days ago, but just now have started playing with it.

THis card is great, but I noticed one really big problem. I have a Cumine P3 800 and an Asus CUSL2. At the default 800mhz setting my video card is extremely CPU limited. I get 77fps in Quake 3 no matter what resolution or quality setting I ahve it at. The only exception would be 1600x1200 with details maxed where I get 72 fps and 1024x768 details maxed with Quincunx AA enabled where I get 74fps.

So, I figure, no big deal, with my Elsa GeForce 2 32mb I would run my computer at 1GHZ no problem. I restarted the computer and set the FSB to 117mhz which would give me 936mhz. The computer booted fine but when I tried to laod WinXP the screen got all distorted and the compter locks up. This happens everytime I try to overclock the computer now. It doesn't matter if I overclock to 1GHZ or 816mhz, it refuses to boot overclocked.

Is this a problem with the Gainward board? ANything I can do or do I ahve to go buy a new CPU now?

Thanks for the help.

Dear Matt2,

Do you use WinXP SysOp ?
I you use NVidia GeForce and WinXP, there are a refresh rate problem, try to fix it with NVidia Refresh Rate Fix 2.0 for Win2K/XP [file NVReffix.exe].
You can download it on TweakMax site.
I hope it will solve your problem;)

Ok, I downloaded the refresh fix, but it comes up with an error and says it can't collect setup information about my display adapter??

Any ideas? I tried it with the 23.10 and 21.85 drivers.

It's Nvidia Refresh Fix 2.0

Hey Matt2, i used 2 gainward gf3 ti450's already, and i tell u that these cards can't absolutely tolerate almost any cpu fsb overclocking. Trust me, on my gts, i could get 190mhz fsb on my cusl2( 190x5.0 = 950mhz on p3 667) and i could get 107mhz on my az11e (107x13.0 = 1391 mhz on athlon tbird), but both gainward cards i tried lock up in secs (if fsb too high, won't boot to os, if average overclocked fsb, freezes in games). That's my xperience.

Your only hope is overclocking by multiplier, which is impossible for p3. BTW, i would like to know wut fps u get in unreal tournament (average, min, max in a full bot ctf map) cause we both have same card, mobo, and almost similiar cpu and i would like to know cause my gainward craps at ut - from 25 to 80 fps only. Also, i would like to know wut agp aperture size u have. thanks.

Xtasy,
My ex-gainward card (same layout as yours) tolerated my fsb set @150Mhz on my XP1600 Shuttle AK31A mobo! It ran 3Dmark2001 overnight fine except for the fact that the memory leakage problem causes the benchmark to drop 2000 pts after that with a reboot. The Leadtek card has better memories though without any heatsink.
