I have two questions about this mobo (GA-Z77M-D3H)

1 : Does it come ready to use with an Ivy Bridge i5-3570k or do I need to update BIOS first with older CPUs?

2 : This memory G.SKill Ripjaws X 8GB (2x4GB) F3-12800CL9D-8GBXM works on it?
On Gigabyte's website it is not listed in the supported memory list, in G.Skill's website it says "Ready for 3rd gen intel core and z77 platform", but the only listed as qualified motherboards from Gigabyte are these:
Gigabyte G1.Sniper 3
Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H
Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H

So, will it work properly? Thanks in Advance

Two weeks ago i did some recherche for putting together a new system for myself. I also chose G.Skill RAM, but i went with G.Skill Ares, because in some forum a guy saying he would be associated with G.Skill said the Ares series would be especially meant to go along an Ivy Bridge CPU.

Don't take my "i read someone saying this or that" for granted, but you might want to look into that.

Although at least in theory Ripjaws should work either.

Greets,
Micha.

I guess in theory it does work, however I wanted to make sure before buying, it is for a friend of mine so I dont want to mess up, he doesn't understand much of computers. I hoped someone who actually has this system or tested it would reply.

Thank you for the response ;)

EDIT: PS - Did your Ares RAM work fine with that mobo?

The Z77 board is ready to go with Ivy Bridge. It is a good idea to check the bios version on the mobo before assembling it, but if you can't, it should still work OK. Check the Gigabyte website for bios revisions and what the revisions are for... it may or may not apply to your situation.

That RAM is low voltage (1.35v) but should work just fine with your mobo. I have low voltage Samsung RAM running on my Gigabyte Z68 mobo overclocked and it's great. Any DDR3 1.5v or 1.35v RAM from a reliable source should work just fine.
