Help with FarCry! please help!

I had FarCry installed with patch 1.1 and 1.3 about last year a made the switch from 98 to XP. Well i didnt play FarCry much so i went and tried to uninstall the patches then i was going to take the game off. Well... it said it can find the Patches. The game is fine but all the patches and things that came with them are gone. Well i want to play FarCry ONLINE again but i need the patches. So i go and try to reinstall them. It wont let me! it says that i need to unistal them first. I CANT UNINSTAL THEM! so i need some help. please can you tell me what happened to the patch files and tell me how to fix this problem. Uninstall and reinstall the game.

Did you do an upgrade from 98-XP? If so, note that upgrades like that are plagued with problems. It's much less problematic to just do a clean reinstall.

THanks guys. I Fixed the problem. When i moved from 98 to XP the files where deleted, but WINDOWS kept thinking that they are still there. So i went in and cleaned out Backups and Regestries. Its fixed. But now i have a new problem... I have a NEW V card. I had a Ti 4200 but now i have a XFX 6800LE. Well in the game something is messed up because, in the beggining of the game you are in the SEWER well...instead of it being a little dark like it is supose to be its REALLY BRIGHT! i checked everything and it was ok. I went and tried to install patch 1.33 but it needed patch 1.32 or 1.31, so i got 1.31 well when i tried to install it, it says it needs 1.3! So i get 1.3... well i try to install it and i says that my system PROHBITS the patch from getting installed. It says that something is missing in a TEMP. Folder. I said the heck with it! But then i thought... I DIDNT TRY PATCH 1.2 or 1.1! So tomorrow im gonna install the first patch and see if it will work. If anyone can explain anything about my problem to me PLEASE HELP! please...

lower the gamma in game (if you can, I don't have far-cry so I wouldn't know)

if the game won't let you lower the gamma:

right click on your desktop, click properties, click settings, click advanced, click geforce 6800LE, on the side panel that opens up click color correction, and then lower the gamma.

I think it may have something to do with the "check for WHQL Certificates" or some other cheap a$$ option like that in WinXP. It's supposed to be on disabled or whatever.

no matter what . . .i 'd back up my saved games . . . completely Uninstall FC, REinstall it THEN patch it to 1.33

takes awhile but then you will be sure it is right

[they were 'included' with the later versions]

i'd STILL do what i suggested first . . .
ver 1.3 is the final BIG patch that INCLUDES 1.1 and 1.2 . . .
ver1.33 is a MINOR patch that is installed ON TOP OF 1.3

OMG FREAKIN GOD! i put the game back on and tried to put the FIRST PATCH 1.1 on it and it said the same freaking thing as when i tried to put on the 1.3 patch! THis is HORSE %$$@!!!! i am about to rip my freaking hair out! RRRRR i hate this computer! If one thing is not wrong its another thing! Some tell me why my system is PROHIBITING it from getting installed.

Tried it yesterday. Unistalled it then i put it back on. Then i tried putting PATCH 1.33 on but it needed 1.32 or 1.31 to be installed so i went and got 1.31. It said that it needed PATCH 1.3. So i got it then i says my system PROHIBITS it from being installed.

try again in exactly this order:

1. uninstall FC

2. defrag your HD

3. Install FC

4. Install Patch 1.3
[maybe d/l it again]

5. [optional] Install Patch 1.33
[i think you ned this only for multiplayer]

Let us know what happens then . . . it IS a legal copy of FC?

Ill try defraging the HD. I hope it works cause im out of ideas.

no matter what, try my suggestions in the order suggested.. . . . the patch could be bad or it might be the mis applying of patches in wrong order . . . just start over on a defragged HD [and shut your virus scanner down during the install, just in case . . . remote . . . ]

i looked on the image - PATCH 1 should NEVER be installed - ONLY patch v1.3 and maybe 1.33

Well it didnt work. Tried the defrag, then turn Anti V off but it just wont work. Ill try to morrow and if that dont work. Im going going to WIPE the comp. clean. Its had some other problems. I think something went wrong with the Switch from 98. Ill wipe it clean then start over FRESH. thanks for the help.

a fresh new install of Win is always the answer in your type of upgrade. hope it goes smoothly. FC is ultimately worth it.
