Help with External eSATA Hard Drive

Ok so I recently bought a new laptop and decided to get an external hard drive. I deal with alot of information and figured it would be a good idea. I decided that I wanted an Sata drive instead of a IDE. I bought the NexStar 3 Enclosure kitHD Enclosure . I wanted to use the eSATA connection rather then the USB. I also bought a new Seagate 400gb hard drive from Best Buy. My laptop has the new PCMCIA express ports instead of the old ones. I needed to get the express card so that I could use the eSATA. I ordered it from newegg, only later to find out that there are two different types. ExpressCard at newegg, mines on the right I have the one on the right the cheaper one.

So here is my problem. I used the USB until i got my express card. I tried to use the express card and could not get it to work. So the other day I wanted to use the USB and it won't pull up. And the light in the front does not stay on but the hard drive is working. I can hear and feal the drive spin, and it also makes a funny beep every onces in a while.

So I guess if any one has any suggestion or knows what is wrong and could help me out that would be great because I want to start to use my info that is on the drive. If you need any more info to know what is wrong let me know and I will provide it. Thanks.
