After my last system failed, I purchased the following components:

1. Epox 9NPA-Ultra Mobo
2. AMD Athlon64 3000+ Retail (Venice core)
3. 1 GB Corsair DDR400 Dual Channel RAM
4. Asus Radeon EAX300SE Video Card
5. Seasonic S12-430 PSU

I re-used from my old system: 60GB and 200GB IDE HDDs, CD RW, DVD RW and floppy drives, as well as a Hauppauge PVR-150. When I first hooked it all together, it wouldn't post. I disconnected all the peripherals except the Hauppauge and video cards and it still wouldn't post. When I took out the Hauppauge card, it posted but stops at the following error:

CMOS checksum error - Defaults Loaded
Warning! Now system is in Safe Mode
Please re-setting CPU frequency in the CMOS setup

At that point, the machine stops and I cannot hit either F1 or Del (to get into the CMOS or proceed). The error code displayed on the mainboard is 7F.

I Cleared the CMOS several times using the jumper on the mainboard and it didn't solve the problem.

So, can anybody recommend a solution on what I need to do to get this working properly??

Thx!

i had the same problem at first.
As soon as the computer starts just start pounding the Key that is used to enter bios.
i believe that key would be delete. Not sure you have to hit the keys before you enter the black screen with all the errors or else it will freeze up.

I too am having problems with this motherboard and having to RMA it back because of the northbridge heatsink fan is louder than my AC and thats a problem

I can't enter the bios at all. It seems that the problem is that the bios needs an update to handle the Venice core chip I have. So, I'm in a catch-22. I am RMA'ing it.
