I have a friends computer at my house and I can't seem to get the dvd player to work. Do I need drivers for the video card? It's a Pioneer dvd-rom and the video card is an asus gf2 gts 64mb. What player should i use?

That's a bit confusing. Of course your video card needs drivers, but what's that got to do with the DVD? You do have DVD software, right? Like PowerDVD, etc.?

What OS are you using? Have you verified that software is compatible with that OS?

I just read a little about that software. It says you need the latest version of directx and it says nothing about supporting Win XP.

Other DVD players include WinDVD... XP also has it's own DVD player as well...

Didnt the video card comes with PowerDVD included? I have Asus V7700 GF2 GTS 32mb and it comes with full version of PowerDVD...

Alot of the dvd software players that are a "demo" or "trial" copy are lacking in features. I once tried one that would only let me play 5 mins and then it would stop. The PowerDVD trial that you have might have limited features in sound or maybe you are trying to play sound that isn't supported cause of your sound setup.. ie. I couldn't play DTS sound on movies cause I didn't have the digital sound out setup from my dvd decoder.
