Help with DVD/CD-RW issue

I have a PC client with Windows ME, a Samsung CD/RW, a Samsung DVD. After installing the new CD/RW drive and the bundled Nero 5. I can no longer play DVD's. The DVD drive reads regular data CD's, burned CD-R's and CD/RW's just fine. It just won't read DVD's. There is drive activity for about 45 seconds and then nothing. Windows does not detect any DVD media in the drive. I uninstalled Nero, rebooted and the DVD drive played DVD's again. So I can have one or the other, but not both. There has to be a workaround. I did search around on google with no joy. Anyone???

Which DVD player are you using? It could be that when you installed the new drive the default path for the DVD player was switched to your Samsung CD-RW. Look under the player settings.

Thanks for the response Andrew. I did check that both Power DVD and WinDVD were pointing to the correct drive. Further investigation has led me to Ahead MultiMount as being the problem, interfering with data coming from the drive. Though the issue is not resolved, I now have something else to look into.
