I want to get one for around $100. I saw a liteon stickied in hotdeals but it was +r,+rw. I don't know it I need dvd-r,-rw. I want to back up my movies and store music mainly. Thank you in advance. I really appreciate and help

Check out the Pioneer 106d. It's the oem verison of the a06 (the exact same drive). Does +R and -R 4x and is one of the best drives for media compatibility.

At this point...it makes little difference. Get whichever drive is cheapest.

I have recently got an LG GSA 4040b and am very impressed with the drive.

It handles all the formats that the best of the others do but adds DVD Ram which is the ideal tool for backing up your data.

Whilst I have seen some reports critiscising the speed I have used all formats and have not had any speed problems myself. ( I think its probably a bit like buying an intel 3000 processor when all you ever do is use microsoft word - the speed is just not an issue )
