I am currently running one 17"lcd monitor off my AIW radeon 7500 in my AGP slot. I have just purchased a used ATI Radeon 32mb sdr PCI card, and a second 17" lcd monitor :)

I'd like to setup a dual monitor system. I'm running windows XP. Now, could someone walk me through how to set this up? Is it as simple as installing the new pci card, and configuring in windows Xp display settings?

Are there any pitfalls, or things i should be aware of? windows xp will handle all of the dual display stuff, right? I won't need to use any ATI software. Anyone done something similar?

yeah, you just plug it in and go.

I've had no problem combining voodoo 3 pci with ti4600, or gf2 with old stealth 64 pci (2mb). It couldn't be easier.

Plug in the new PCI card, go into display properties and "extend desktop onto this monitor" - it should be that easy. :)

BTW, how do you like the AIW 7500; specifically, the video input and TV tuner capabilities? I've been thinking of getting one myself, and was curious to hear other user opionions. Is the 3D speed manageable (I wouldn't expect to be able to run UT2003 at 1600x1200 high quality, but I would want it to be playable maybe at 1024x768)?

thanks for the info :)

I'm rather happy w/ the AIW 7500.. It's good value for the money. I don't play many games, but it runs C&C generals at 1280x1024 just fine :)
The tv tuner is pretty cool. Good video quality, not great, but good. (The higher end 8500 and 9700 AIW have better TV tuners). The new Mulitmedia Centre software is AWSOME though. The Tivo/PVR features are great, and it doesn't eat up alot of resources when it's recording.
I guess you get what you pay for. I was originally thinking of getting an AIW 8500dv because it has a firewire port on it, but i bought this 7500 on sale with a 50$ rebate.. so i got a great deal on it :)

(The higher end 8500 and 9700 AIW have better TV tuners

They all have the same phillips tuner (AIW Radeon,AIW7500, AIW8500, AIW9000,AIW 9700pro) the 8500dv has the different silicon tuner, quality is more or less the same between all of them except the 9xxx cards require a signal booster to correct a weak signaling problem with channels 1-6 for some users.
MMC8.5 will be out shortly with the new EZlook interface for HTPC's too. I use an AIW7500 in one of my rigs and its still a pretty fair gamer and excellent multimedia feature set.

I was told by my local computer store (which usually gives great advice) that the higher cards have a better tuner. sorry
