First of all, I have a Sotec 820p laptop (a complete piece of sh!t, my dad bought it w/out consulting me) and a Sony KV-32HS420 HDTV. The laptop has a SiS 650 Ultra video. When I connect the SIS to the TV via S-Video, I can see stuff on the TV like its supposed to. However, when I play mpeg video files with Windows Media, I can't see the video on the TV. I can see the Windows Media player frame, but there's nothing but black where the video is supposed to be. The video can be seen only on the laptop's LCD. Quicktime videos work though. How can I fix this problem?

My old a$$ dell has an alt key that you use in conjunction with a display key. I had to be in the right "mode" to see the video using S-Video also.

There is a display button and I press it (while holding the function key) and nothing happens. What's weird is that Quicktime movies work sometimes and sometimes they don't. This is really annoying. Does anyone know if there is some adapter where I can change the D-sub connecter to RCA or svideo?
