Help with Dell laptop and resolution.

I just upgraded video drivers in my Dell c800. Now @ 1400x1050 I can only set the Refresh Frequency at 60Hz. If I set it to 1280x1024 I can go as high as 100Hz. The higher resolutoin looks much more clear so I'd like to keep it but I have heard that 60 Hz can be a little hard on the eyes.
Any way to get the higher resolutoin and a higher Refresh Frequency?

The refresh rate is pretty much irrelevant on a laptop. When you heard that 60hz was hard on the eyes, they were reffering to CRT dispalys, which flicker. LCDs, like the ones used in laptops dont flicker, so you shouldn't have any problems with eye strain looking at your laptop at 60hz.

Ditto what notfred said. I set one laptop to 45Hz interlaced mode for fun once, and still no flicker. Now if you are using an external monitor, you will be limited by the speed of the video chip's ramdac. You can try to search in the registry for display modes and create new options there. I did that once for my TNT2 Ultra to eliminate refresh rates the monitor didn't support and to create some new ones that produced a clearer image (I had a clearer image at 1600x1200@86Hz than at 1600x1200@85Hz).

with my Inspiron 8100 UXGA its always running at 1600x1200 at 60hz, you wont be able to tell in the least, it looks far better than a CRT running at 75+hz
