Help with DDR RAM please

This may sound like a stupid question, but I've read all the RAM posts I could find and I'm still confused. I am planning on upgrading to a p4 2.4 GHz and have picked my mobo (Abit IC7) but I don't understand completely what RAM would work best. All the posts talk about are 400 MHz DDR, which the Abit IC7 supports, but there is also 466 MHz DDR available. Wouldn't this be better? If not, then could someone please explain it to me? I also heard that Intel is going to release 800 MHz FSB 2.4 GHz CPUs soon, so is that what the 466 MHz DDR is for or would 800 FSB take a new DDR RAM?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me

If you get a Revision "C" you'll need DDR400 atleast so that you can use the dividers to achieve a realistic overclock. If your just using a "B" to overclock get some high quality Kingston Hyper-X PC3200 or Corsair XMS if your wallet allows it.🙂

I'm not really interested in overclocking, I just want to know what would be the best RAM to get. If 400 MHz were pc3200 and pc3700 were 466 Mhz then wouldn't pc3700 be the better RAM to buy?

If you are going to run stock speeds, there is no sense paying the extra money for the faster ram as they will perform the same. The only reason for the faster stuff if you need the extra headroom for ocing or if you think that a 466 bus is down the road somewhere and may want to use it in a new mobo.

I would get DDR400 because the new Intel chipsets are going to use Dual-Channel DDR400 to meet the 6.4GB bandwidth needs of the P4 "C".
