help with custom resolution 1440x1080

trying to set up 1440x1080 on my GF3 Ti200 for my 21" monitor. i used to run this bad boy at 1600x1200 and loved it. but now i sit further away and things seem just a bit too small...maybe i'm getting old too, i'm not sure. anyway, i'd liek to try something in between 1600x1200 and 1280x1024 and 1440x1080 seems like a good compromise.

I know i could do this through powerstrip, but i'd rather not if possible. i'm pretty sure there's a way to setup custom timings in the nvidia driver ini files and/or registry settings.

any ideas guys? is this going to look like butt when i do it anyway?

The latest nV drivers allow you to add custom resolutions. Just look through the advanced options, you should be able to find it on your own.

If you aren't using one of the latest drivers, then I'm sure there's a way of manually adding resolutions in your monitor's .inf file. Try Googling for how, or wait to see if someone will reply with instructions.

oh wow, that was really easy - i feel like a dumba$$ for even posting here now...i used to always be right on top of driver updates, but too busy lately...

anyway, worked beautifully...thanks bud 🙂

a few quick thoughts now that i have this working: 1440x1080 is so perfect on my 21" monitor, i can't believe this isn't a standard or more commonly used resolution. especially since notebooks are starting to use it. we have a number of resolutions between 640x480 and 1280x1024, but the jump from 1280x1024 to 1600x1200 is quite large.

(i do sit kinda far back, so 1600x1200 is a bit smallish on here)

just for my own personal knowledge - does ATI have this feature? how else would this be accomplished if the custom res feature isn't found in the drivers?
