Question: Why is my brand new CAS 2 memory showing under Sandra 2000 as 3-2-2?

I have just received a stick of Crucial 256mb 133mhz CAS 2 RAM. I'm running it OC'd at 118 fsb + pci clock of 33 = 151mhz (host+pci setting). All the memory timings are set to maz and to produce 2-2-2 and from the . Everything is stable and running perfectly so I know I should be happy, but.... I purchased this RAM from Crucial with it stating 2-2-2. Is Sandra incorrectly showing 3-2-2 or did they send me the wrong RAM.

Sorry if this has an obvious answer, but I've only just started messing with this stuff.
Thanks for any info!!

System:
Abit KT7-A Raid
Duron 750/885 (118fsb*7.5) (GlobalWin FOP38--too loud)
Micron 256mb 133-CAS 2 (151mhz)
IBM 30gb 75GXP HD (only 1 currently)
Radeon LE (166/166mhz)
SB AWE 64
NEC 32x CD-ROM
Enlight 7237 case (in process)

Are you manually setting it to 2-2-2 in the bios or are you letting the mobo use the SPD info? Perhaps the SPD is set to
3-2-2 and that's what Sandra is reading, or maybe Sandra is just inaccurate. In any case, be happy you got 2-2-2 @ 151MHz. Atsa nice stick!

Thanks for the response. I'm manually setting it using info from a TechZone article. I know I should stop messing with it, but I have the tweak-itch now and I can't seem to pull myself away. My fiance' is none-too pleased with the situation either. :)~
I'm using the free-DL version of Sandra so it may not be the most accurate variety.
Is there another program I could use to double-check the info?

Thanks!

If sandra says 3-2-2, its probably right. That Tech Zone article is pretty good, so your fine following it.

I have same moboard and two sticks of crucial CAS 2 pc 133 128mg/ea. I have Sandra. Tell me where you got that spec and I'll try it as well.

I've got Sandra 2001. I won't be around until later tonight. I'll try to post my settings and benchmarks for you later this evening. I'm using the same board as well.

I've got Sandra2001 & KT7A, under "MainBoard Informatiom" I see many reporting errors (ie incorrect AGP/PCI bus speeds, etc). I hope maybe Sandra folks are workin on an update...

Well, this is a lil later then I planned, but I was distracted by our office 'dragging' me to happy-hour. Anyway....here's what I'm seeing under Sandra 2000, Maindboard Information, Memory Module 1:
Micron 16LSDT3264AG-13EB1 140B0448
256MB 16x(16Mx8) SDRAM CL3 PC143U-
322-542

I hope that helps. And as always...thanks!!!

I'm running a 1 gig t-bird at 138*8. I ran sandra 2001 benchmark after warm reboot, then shut down everything but explorer and system: Int ALU = 558; Float FPU = 619. Fastest bios memory settings: TURBO, 4-WAY, NO DELAY, HI, 2, DISABLE, ENABLED ...
Hope this helps. I can't seem to find any info on timings like you descibed in Sandra 2001. Love this board. Love the memory. I really believe the memory is good because of the system stability I've experienced. As you can see I use mild o'clockin' and have since I bought this board and memory in early January. It does not crash.

WooHoo! Thanks! After restarting and checking bios, I had it set at Auto, not NO delay, and I had 4k page thing disabled. Reboot and shutdown to nuthin' but IE/system I get 556/652 under Sandra. My memory is faster now, thanks!
Unfortunately, my initial question remains. Why am I showing 3-2-2 CL3 on this fast lil stick of memory?

It's under the Mainboard Information Module. I scroll down to the Memory Module 1 info and that's where it is. I'm not sure how Sandra 2001 is set up, though. Thanks for looking!

My module does not indicate the settings being used, rather it displays the specifications for the memory modules. Here they are:

Micron BLSDT1664AG-13EB1 14047204 128MB
8x(16Mx8) SDRAM PC133U-222-542 (CL3 upto
143MHZ) (CL2 upto 133MHZ)

Module 2 shows similar information.

So tell me a little more about your set up I haven't really tried to push my bus pseed that high (at least the memory bus & pci). What are you using for voltage and IO settings?

That's the difference!!
Mine: Micron 16LSDT3264AG-13EB1 140B0448
256MB 16x(16Mx8) SDRAM CL3 PC143U-
322-542

Yours: Micron BLSDT1664AG-13EB1 14047204 128MB
8x(16Mx8) SDRAM PC133U-222-542 (CL3 upto
143MHZ) (CL2 upto 133MHZ)

Mine is only showing CL# at 322-542, while yours is at 222-542 and lists both CL3 and CL2 options. Do you think they sent me the wrong stuff??? I'm wanting to gather as much info before I call em.

It appears your suspicions may be correct. Do you have your invoice and packing list? Does the part number match what they shipped you? Can you find your part number on the website. I assume you bought directly from crucial.

Since last night I've bumped it to and even 120*7.5 to make the Duron 750 hit 900mhz. Everything has been smooth and no problems at all running any of the tests or while I'm writing this. I did change the Enable 4kpage option to disable though. The voltage is 1.70 cpu and 3.5 I/O. The temp is at 31C for the CPU, but who knows if Sandra lists it correctly. I've tweaked the Radeon to include HyperZ and upped the core memory to 166/166mhz. All is good so far. I do need to change cpu fans though. I have a new GW FOP38, but it's waaayyy to noisey.

I have that all back at the office. Looks like I'll be calling on Monday. Thanks for the help!!! If you'd like any more info maybe we should move this to e-mail. I'm on AOL messenger as CLSnTx@aol.com
