Help with crossover cable

Hi,

I am trying to connect a couple of computers with a crossover cable. I thought this was supposed to be a pretty simple operation, but I can't seem to figure it out. I have the computers connected with the crossover cable via ethernet cards. One machine is running WIN98SE and the other is running WIN2K. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
