Hi there, I want to replace the stock fan that comes with the AMD 4-heatpipe heatsink and I bought a SmartCase Fan2 to do just that. My question(s) is, I want to use the temp probe that comes with it. According to the manufacturer's website, you can install the temp probe underneath the CPU and place the processor on top. I have doubts about this because I figure that there's going to be a gap between the MOBO socket and the actual CPU. The way I see it is that the fan wires are "fat" to sit flat on the botton of the socket and the CPU will not sit properly. Am I missing something here? Is it OK to do this ? I have never done this hence my hesitation.
The other related question is if it's OK to attach this particular fan to the header on the MOBO, I understand that this is a powerful fan. Its specs say that it has a power input of 2.4W-8.4W and rated current of: 0.2AMP-0.70AMP. I don't have the specs for my MOBO handy at this point, the motherboard is AsRock Dual Sata2.
What is your advice on this, any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
