hello all,
I have a strange choice for a case here, i am going to use an old cd player that i will gut to house a new computer that i want to build. I am doing this because i am using it as an mp3 server/DVR apliance, and i want to to blend in with my home theater system. One of the most important things is sound levels...this thing must be quiet. So, i need advice. First, what processor? i need at least a P4 1.4 or equivalent. I need one that will run COOL. next off would be a high capacity hard drive that will run pretty cool. and last what about case fans? again i need quiet. any and all help is greatly appreciated.

thanks,

danny

Chaintech microATX NForce2 SPP mobo + Zalman passive northbridge sink ($90-ish)
Athlon XP 2500+ underclocked to 1.2-ish GHZ, decreased voltage + Thermalright SLK-800 ($120-ish)
ATi Rage Mobility 8mb (far less heat than NForce IGP) ($20-ish)
Maxtor DiamondMax 16 5400rpm 160GB ($140-ish)
Leadtek capture card ($50-ish)

Theres something to work with, at least.....ish....

You might be able to take the electronics out of a good power supply and nail 'em upside-down right above the empty PCI slots and IDE connectors.... then mount the HDD over the RAM. I'd cut a hole out of the top of the case right above the northbridge and CPU for a 120mm Papst outtake fan... that might just be enough to cool the whole deal.
