There is no need to crank up the CPU fan unless the CPU temp is north of 45C! You will never see 30C coretemp unless case temp is under 20C. Coretemp reports the CPU temp at the geometric center of each core.
 
How does the Asus p5k-e wifi compare to the two boards mentioned by OP? The p5k-e is what I'm planning on purchasing for my Q6600 (will OC) + 2gb ddr-2 800 ram.
