Help with Case fans on Lian-Li PC-60PlusII

Just bought a PC-60PlusII and when it got to my house I noticed that the fan in the back is an intake fan and the top fan is exhaust. I also bought a Scythe Infinity CPU cooler and I had planned on blowing the air out the back of the case, however, seeing as the fan in the back of the case blows the opposite direction I have a little problem. Should I turn the fan on the top and the back around so the back is exhaust and the top is intake or just turn the Scythe Infinity a different direction and blow the air forward?

The fan in the back should blow air out of the case. The fan on top of the case is better if it would blow out also. This is because warm air rises, and depending where your computer is, if that top fan is intake, it might be blowing in warm air back in, which you don't want. You can leave your CPU cooler the way you had it: blowing air outward.

Usually air should enter the case from the front, and exist the back (also via the power supply). What I don't like is the fact that many cases have fan mounts/holes on top of the cases and even on the sides....but sometimes this is a good thing, since side fans can help cool hot-running graphic cards

You can either;

1. Turn the case fan the other way around so that it exhausts hot air.
2. Mount the fan on Scythe in a way such that it blows air to the same direction as the case fan.

Personally I use #1 method and I think that's the way it should be. It works great because that way the case exhausts hot air from both the CPU and the GPU.

Make the rear fan an exhaust.

I did not realize you have a side fan and a CPU duct. (I looked up a PC-60 Plus II on the net and it did not show any side fans or CPU ducts....)

In this case, the side fan should blow INTO the case.

I would take off the CPU duct if possible. Although it looks helpful, the only thing these things do is obscure propers airflow throughout the case and also hinder the abiltiy of the rear fan to exhause warm air.

Yea first thing I did when I got the case was take off the CPU duct. So make the front and side fans blow in and back and top fans blow out? Even tho front and side are 120 and back and top are 80.

OH WAIT. My case is a 1000 series. (upside-down mobo) I would make the side fan blowing in fresh air for your case. Looking at the diagram, if you have both the rear/side fans exhaust, there is a chance that CPU area will not have enough air-flow. Either way, you should test different combinations and see for yourself, IMO.

Yes....even if the intakes are 120mm....

You also have to remember that power supply units exhaust heat (well, most of them) as well.

So it looks like you are all set... let us know how it goes. :)

Yeah, Lopri.... he has a Lian Li PC-60 Plus II series... The "1000"s are pretty cool too.

Yea that's what I planned on doing first. The back can I turned around without a problem but the side fan is a little trickier. Holes are different sizes on opposite sides of the fan so I had to use different screws Lian-Li provided. Only problem is the metal vent that goes over top of it is too small for those screws to fit in to it so I'm gonna have to bust out the power drill and widen them @_@.

Hey....so did you ended up with a good fan configuration? Is there good airflow?

Let us know how it goes ;)

in that case that you linked.. i would.. have the bottom side fan as an intake bringing in cool air for your video card, and have the rear fan as exhaust, and top fan either off or exhaust, i dont think it will make any temp difference in your CPU,GPU temps.
