Help with camera decisions.

I have been looking at a new digital camera and I think i am going to get either the canon sd400 or sd500. I was wondering if I would be able to tell a difference from the extra mega pixels? I won't be blowing any pictures up beyone 8x10 (maybe not even that much). The price difference is about $100 and the mega pixel difference is like 5 vs 7.

This is an in-depth review, and there are lots of user comments on the SD500.

And here is one on the SD400.

Megapixels are not the whole story. They relate to being able to print large pictures, but also make cropping out small details have better results. My current camera (Canon 20D) has 8.2 megapixels, and I leave it at that and scale down for email and other uses. I rarely print. But I put all photos on CDR or DVD+R for retention and slide shows. The extra res is useful there.
